Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: DAILY DISPATCH---EXTRA, Richmond, Virginia, July 5, 1863. Battle of Gettysburg Very rare Confederate title Capital of the Confederacy. A great rarity: a Confederate broadside "Extra" reporting on the first two days of the historic Battle of Gettysburg. As the word "broadside" is defined, this is a single sheet printed on the front side only. The heads at the top of the first column head: " Latest From The North " " Great Battle At Gettysburg " with subheads: The Yankees Claim Not To Be Defeated and To Have Captured 6,000 Prisoners--The Confederates Hold The Field--Yankee Generals Reynolds and Paul Killed--Heavy Loss of the Federals--The Grand Battle Expected Friday, etc." This reporting takes 3 of the 4 columns, with subheads including: "The First Day's Battle" "The Second Day's Fighting" "The Fighting on Thursday--Further Particulars Gen. Reynolds Killed" "A Rebel Brigade Captured.
