Clipped autograph on blue ruled paper measuring 1.375" x 2.5", and pasted on a sturdy 1.75" x 2.75" card, n. But likely dates between 1842 and 1855 when Lee was Captain of the Army Corps of Engineers. Lee's typical minuscule signature measures just 1 across. Boldly signed in black ink with his rank " Capt Engnrs " underneath.
General wear and soiling to edges of the card, especially on the back. Clipped portion is generally unaffected. A very nice pre-war example of Lee's autograph. Rare with this rank inscription.
