War related items are on the inside pages including items headed: "The News" "Backbone" "From The Seat Of War" "The Wilmington Light Infantry", "Experiments With Rifled Cannons" "Defenses Up The River" "Camp Jokes" "An Engagement at Mathias' Point" Important Order by General Beauregard prohibiting persons from crossing the lines after the 30th. Four pages, very nice, clean condition. Wilmington was a major Atlantic Ocean port city for the Confederacy during the Civil War, and was one of the last ports to fall to Union forces in 1865.As such it was barricaded by Union forces during the war, but blockade runners had some success in getting supplies through.
