RARE CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA SOUVENIR STERLING SOUTHERN CROSS SPOON. I don't know why this spoon is not listed in the Bible of Gorham Souvenir Spoons - "Gorham Spoons Sterling Souvenirs From A Bygone Era" by Chris A.
Generally I do not describe my listing as RARE, but I think this one may be. Marked Sterling and with the maker's mark for Gorham Silversmiths.Excellent Condition with No Pattern Wear. It has an embossed bowl with a vertical image of a pyramid in the woods.
It is dated 1861 & 1865 and is also marked CSA below the pyramid. The handle has two enameled Confederate flags.
The one on the right is: Second Flag of the Confederate States of America, May 1, 1863 through March 4, 1865. The one on the left is: The Battle Flag of the Confederacy, also known as the " Southern Cross ".
