Rare Confederate Columbus GA Muscogee County Georgia 1862 Civil War Newspaper. Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: DAILY COLUMBUS ENQUIRER, Georgia, Nov. Very rare Confederate title General Braxton Bragg. Certainly one of the less common Confederate titles from the Civil War. Columbus is in Southwest Georgia on the Alabama border very near Montgomery. Among the various reports inside are: "The Northern Elections" "The Yankees Across the Potomac" "The Recognition Question" "The Abolitionists in West Tennessee" "What Bragg Lost and What the Yankees Gained" "Progress & Events of the War" "Confederate General Reported to Have'Taken the Oath' " in allegiance to the North; "Carpet Blankets" "Late Northern News" "Army News" and more. Most of the back page is taken up with the: "Constitution of the State of Georgia, Ratified July 2, 1861". Four pages, various foxing & some water stains, otherwise nice condition. It was in Columbus where the last battle of the Civil War was fought. Note: The Battle of Palmito Ranch in Texas actually occurred weeks after the Battle of Columbus, but the engagement at Palmito Ranch happened after the Confederate government had dissolved and the Confederacy was extinct.
