Impressive, detailed Bronze finished Portrait Bust of Robert E. Lee by Alva Studios, date around late 1800's. About 9" H, 4" wide.

Material is a metal Brass or bronze? This is a HEAVY item. You might wonder why Lee wears the 3 stars of a Confederate Colonel.

Colonel was his last US Army rank, though he was offered a US Generals commission just before the War started. He did not intend to wear a general's insignia until the Civil War had ended and he could be promoted during peacetime to a Confederate General. Condition is wonderful as you can see with no noted damage. This came out of a Very old estate in south east texas.
