North Carolina CIVIL War Confederate Camp Graham 1862 Rations
Camp Graham, Carteret County, North Carolina was built by the 7th North Carolina Volunteers in 1861 to protect the strategic City of New Berne, and later renamed Newport Barracks. An original Confederate Army Provisions Receipt for corm meal issued by order of Lt Colonel CG Haywood, Commanding, and signed by Captain WJ Sanford, ACS March 2nd, 1862.

For the 7th Regt NC Troops. It's first Battles were in defense of Roanoke and New Berne, North Carolina. Captain William H Sanford signed the Receipt a year before he was mortally wounded at the Battle of New Berne.

1p 8 x 6 ink. Edge cuts, age stains, Overall VG. Comes w service info for Captain Sanford, a native of Iredale County, NC.
