Military signal cannon american civil war confederate cannon rare
I aquired this cannon in a very rusty state... The barrel was completely filled with detreius which i drilled out.. Further along the barrel it actually contained about 3 ounces of black powder gunpowder which i removed.. I used a much narrower guage drill to remove the years of muck that was inside.. So ideally a close to 3/4 inch drill should be used to fully clear any rust residue inside.... The fuse hole was also blocked it is about 3mm guage.. And unfortunately a small section of drill bit is inside this at about 1.
5 cms down as this broke off... But i decided not to pursue removing this... I cleaned off the rust in a vinegar solution and the solution runs clean through. The cannon measures 13.5 inches long with the rear circumference being 3inches across and the front 1.5/8 inches.. I believe this is a confederate cannon...
I assume that this will probably work i also assume that to test this a proper testing facility will be used with all the correct safety procedures put in place...
