This is a fully assembled replica of the Civil War ironclad warship C. Virginia made by Berkeley Designs. The replica appears to be made of a cast resin that resembles metal.
It is very nicely detailed with brass cannons, lifeboats, and a metal propeller. The base has a plaque that reads C. The gunports are recessed and there is even a realistic open staircase access from the top hatch.
Virginia was the first steam-powered ironclad warship built by the Confederate States Navy during the first year of the American Civil War. It was constructed as a casemate ironclad using the raised and cut down original lower hull and engines of the scuttled steam frigate U. Virginia was one of the participants in the Battle of Hampton Roads, opposing the Union's U. The battle is significant in naval history as the first battle between ironclads. It shows no evidence of any wear or damage.
