This rare little button is referred to as a Houston Muffin Button. It is so rare that the original button guru Alphaes Albert didn't even know of its existence.
Very few have turned up, only just a handful. It is made of pewter and still has its integral shank. Tice documented it in his button book. This button also has the rare distinction of having a prominent C. A very rare and desirable button excavated in Abbeville, Mississippi.
