(1816 - 1864) Confederate major general who commanded a brigade at Pensacola. Walker, a much-admired leader, killed in action before Atlanta. Penned on the verso of an A. State Troops, Camp Jackson, Feb.

1, 1862, directed to Lt. Pratt requests a ten-day leave for Sgt. Smythe to attend estate business concerning his family. At the bottom, commanding Col.

ROBERT HARRIS of the regiment writes an A. On verso, Walker pens an A.

I would recommend the leave for five days. Ten days should not be given in these times. Of this you are the best judge... Signed with rank as brigadier general. At the bottom, Major LAMAR COBB, who served as an aide to Gen. Howell Cobb, approves a five-day leave on behalf of Gen. This endorsement would have been signed while Walker was a brigadier General in the Georgia militia. Early in the war, he served in the Confederate Army before resigning his commission. After serving with the Georgia militia, he would eventually find his way back into the Confederate Army, rising to the rank of Major General. Some wear and soiling along folds, else very good.
