General Jubal Anderson Early 1816 1894 was an American lawyer, politician and military officer who served as a general in the Confederate States Army. Jubal was promoted to Brigadier general after his actions of valor after the First Battle of Bull Run in July 1861. As a general, Early commanded Confederate troops in nearly all of the major battles in the Eastern Theater, the Seven Day Battles, the Second Bull Run, the Battle of Antietam, the Battle of Fredericksburg, the Battle of Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, along with numerous battles in the Shenandoah Valley.
