James Longstreet [1821 1904] was a prominent Confederate general during the American Civil War and principal subordinate to General Robert E. Lee who called him his''Old War Horse''. He served under Lee as a corps commander for most of the battles fought by the Army of Northern Virginia in the Eastern Theatre, and also with General Braxton Bragg in the Army of Tennessee in the Western Theater. General Longstreet began his military career in 1842 in the United States Army until the outbreak of the American Civil War in 1861.

The display is centered around a military image of the general in his Confederate uniform. Mounted next to his image is a [DS] document signed, a check drawn upon The State Banking CO.

Of Gainesville, Ga, dated Nov 19, 1902. The check is completed in his hand and signed''James Longstreet'' in black fountain pen. The check measures 5.75 x 2.75 inches, with trivial wear otherwise bold and displays wonderfully.

Also mounted within in the display in an engraved metal bio plaque. The display has been handsomely triple matted in an off-white mat, along with the photograph and check completed in a gold wood trim. The frame measures 20.00 x 14.00 inches.

Sellers Note, the matting is very well done with all quality materials, triple matted with wood trim as noted above. The frame is a quality wood display, with general wear, more than presentable but it does have some faults. The autograph is authentic, the display is very attractive and is a desirable example of this prominent Confederate commander.
