Confederate CSA made Derringer Barrel by Frank S. Schumann of Memphis TN, 4 known. This is just the barrel of an unfinished derringer made in the Civil War by Frank Schumann. He was a Confederate gunsmith working in Shelby County, Memphis Tennessee. It is overall 4.75 long, about 41 caliber with rifling. Nipple is original and good. It was found by the previous collector in the South. There are bout 4 of these barrels known, Nearly all not mounted. The following information about the first F. Schumann barrel, which is like the one offered for sale here, ever found is from the book "Southern Derringers of the Mississippi Valley". Schumann, as a maker of derringers by old newspaper accounts. 410 and is full octagon. This barrel turned up in Memphis about twenty-five or thirty years ago in an old gun shop where it was obtained and kept in a collection thereafter.
