I'm not sure if he's a confederate or not, so any help that anyone could provide would be appreciated. I just added the photo of his belt buckle, which is an eagle - maybe officially Calvary? Not sure if the eagle was used on both sides, but something online with a buckle said that it was a Union buckle.
