The Passenger Packet Steamer "Diana" was captured by the US Navy in 1862 at New Orleans and served as a US Naval transport until captured by the Confederates on the Atchafalaya River. An Original Complete issue of the New Orleans Evening True Delta for January 16, 1861 bearing a large overstamp on right top 1861 N. Orleans & Louisville 1861 DIANA E. J Smith Clerk" indicating the paper was delivered by the Steamboat "Diana. The 4 pp issue has news of the capture of the Pensacola Navy Yard, Florida, also news of Fort Pickens, reports from Fort Morgan, Alabama, Fort Pulaski, Savannah, Georgia, the bravery of the Alabama Volunteers at Pensacola, news of the River and steamboats, and ads with the last page with schedules of steamboats traveling the Mississippi, Ohio, Atchafalaya, Red River etc.
