CIVIL War Mississippi Confederate Cavalry Widow Pension Jasper County
Robert W Dent of Bay Springs, Jasper County, Mississippi served 1864-65 with the 9th MS Cavalry in Ferguson's Brigade. The 9th Cavalry spent the last year of the War in a variety of pursuits incl chasing deserters, Battles of Selma and Mobile, Alabama, and a group of the troopers even served as escorts to Jeff Davis when he was in Georgia, heading to Mexico in 1865. An Original Civil War veteran pension issued for Mrs V. William Foley was a comrade of Robert Dnt, also serving in Ferguson's Brigade.
