Civil War Confederate SC SWORD BELT & PLATE All Original & Genuine RARE FIND

See the photos of this very nice sword belt and 2 piece buckle that I bought in the 1980s either from a family member or someone who cleaned out the estate in Atlanta. The belt had/has the TONGUE DISC MISSING where it had originally been sweated on and it has been like this since I bought it.

I showed it to several knowledgeable collectors and the general consensus was that it was supposed to have a South Carolina (or Georgia or other Southern state) center disc. Hence, I bought a reproduction SC buckle, removed the disc, and LAID it on my belt rig for display.

The little disc is NOT attached to the plate. It appears to me that the belt is black pig skin. It is about 36 overall and has many period repairs but is not falling apart or flaking. The plate is about 87mm overall.

The opening where the center disc goes is about 34mm. The outside of the wreath portion is about 52mm. A few tears, period repairs, etc. To the belt as would be expected. Therefore, EVERYTHING is genuine and original and untouched EXCEPT for the state seal disc.

With the little modern disc laid where it is supposed to go, it makes a really great display! This is the first time I have ever offered this rig for sale and hardly anyone has ever seen it.

Again, I think it is SC but could be "CS" or another Confederate state.
