Civil War Confederate letter John McAfee 10th MS Regt. Vicksburg, Ms March 22nd 1867 McAfee. 10th Regiment Mississippi volunteers on Company F Private McAfee was committed to serving 12 months and re-inlisted in Company E 9th regiment Mississippi volunteers, which was re-organized in Pensacola, Florida by General Jack (James) Chalmers in November of 1861. The letter states Private McAfee was a good soldier and served gallantly in many engagements. He was killed at the battle of Murfreesboro (Battle of Stones River Dec 31 1862 through Jan 2, 1863) while acting with conspicuous bravery which won for his name a place upon the Roll of Honor.
