CIVIL War Confederate Haiman & Brother Georgia Or De Witt Foot Officer Sword
AMERICAN CIVIL WAR HISTORY, CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE HAIMAN & BROTHER OR DE WITT GEORGIA FOOT OFFICER SWORD CIRCA 1861. THIS IS A VERY RARE SWORD, AND VERY BEATIFUL, THE SAND CASTING IS PICTURE PERFECT. THE LEATHER SCABBARD MOST LIKELY IS A REPLACEMENT, IT FITS THE SWORD LIKE A GLOVE. THE SWORD WAS LABELED DE WITT, I THINK THAT IT IS A HAIMAN OR DE WITT.
DE WITT SWORDS ARE VERY RARE AND HARDLY COME TO MARKET. This is an exceptional example of a VERY rare pattern of Confederate manufactured sword.
The general form is attributed both to Louis Haiman and Abraham Dewitt, both of Columbus, Georgia, circa 1861.
