CIVIL War Confederate General William Preston's Copy Signed, 1878, Kentucky
The Biographical Encyclopaedia of Kentucky of the Dead and Living Men of the Nineteenth Century. This copy was originally the property of William Preston. He was a brigadier general in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. Laid in is a piece of stationary with his signature and the watermark reads "Tiffany & Co / Linen". William Preston's biography is contained in this volume and besides the text are some pencil annotations that were written by a relative of William Preston. Thick large quarto, 792 pages, bound in beautiful blind stamped full calf lettered in gilt on spine. Illustrated throughout with black and white plates. Some foxing and discoloration, some rubbing along edges, a few of the tissue guards have creases, else in very good condition.
