CIVIL War Confederate General Richard Ewell Staff Order July 1664
An Original Confederate written order by N. Burns for Maj Charles Howard of Lt Gen Ewell's staff pay to E. Jeffries on order two hundred dollars. The reverse is ink inscribed but I can't decipher it.
The order is signed by N. C Burns, an officer on Ewell's staff.
Issued July 12, 1864 when Ewell was in command of the Defenses of Richmond, Virginia. Major Charles Howard was a staff officer under General Lunsfiord L Lomax. Who at this time was engaged in the Major Howard was General Lunsford Lomax's Chief Commissary of Supply Officer. General Lomax's command was serving under Fitzhugh Lee in the cavalry operations in Northern Virginia an Maryland.
