This is an amazing archive of Major John W. Park; Confederate Officer in the Civil War. During the Civil War he was a Major in the First Georgia Regiment before settling in Greenville Georgia in Meriwether County. John Park was one of the organizers of the Georgia Bar Association and one of its Presidents. He was the foremost lawyer in the Coweta Circuit. He and his father Orville were prominent educators and one of the founders of Emory College and the LaGrange Female Institute. The lot contains letters, checks, receipts and notes from Rockingham and surrounding counties from about 1870 to 1890. Most of the correspondence occurs after the Civil War period as an attorney.

Many of these items are signed by Confederate veterans throughout Georgia either before or after the war. Its a once in a lifetime grouping containing some important history of the region. Several years of research could be done from this group. Everything you see is included, about 100 documents.

Some of the items are small, but being limited to 24 photos means I couldn't capture every single one.
