Civil War CDV of Confederate General Roger A. Pryor
Congressman and ardent secessionist, Pryor entered Confederate service in 1861 and commanded the "Florida Brigade" in the Army of Northern Virginia in the Seven Days battles and at Second Manassas and Antietam. After the war he forged an unlikely reconciliationist path, becoming a New York journalist, judge, and law partner to Benjamin F. The CDV measures about 2 1/2" x 4". On the reverse is the imprint of Lawrence & Houseworth of San Francisco.
