Very rare, Authentic Civil War Period Confederate Secessionist Badge or Cockade, crafted of red, white and blue silk ribbon, with a central black seal and star adorned with black wire and sequins. Cockade measures approximately 4 in diameter and is mounted to an antique period mirror with black wooden frame with ornate decorative inlays, measuring to 9 x 14 overall. An engraved metal description plate is mounted to front of mirror below the badge and states, CONFEDERATE SECESSIONIST BADGE.
A handwritten notation in pen upon rear backing of mirror reads, Mirror dtd June 27, 1885. Cockades such as this were worn during the Civil War Period to show support for the Confederate cause.
