This book is entitled The Grayjackets: and how they lived, fought and died, for Dixie. With Incidents & Sketches of life in the Confederacy by A Confederate, now known as James D. It is filled with narratives of personal adventure, army life, naval adventure, home life, partisan daring, life in the camp, and field and hospital. It also includes song, ballads and anecdotes and humorous incidents of the war. It was published in 1867 by Jones Brothers & Co.

And is a first edition. The cover is maroon cloth with gold stamped lettering and decorations on the spine and cover. There are tissue guarded illustrations of General E.

There are many pull out maps and illustrations. This book came from the library of Walter Burgwyn Jones of Montgomery, Alabama. He was an American Legislator, Judge and writer from Alabama. He served in the Alabama House of Representatives as a Democratic and worked as a Circuit Court Judge for many years. His signature is on the cover page.
