The latter, titled The Lost Cause, was Pollards most famous work, though not necessarily because of its popularity. The Lost Cause gained its fame for Pollards advocating for white supremacy and the relegation of blacks to a second-class status. Pollard supported the notion that slavery was the key to a Confederate way of life and nobility.
