I can find no other examples anywhere. No images on line, none for sale, and no mention in the book on confederate bills. Here's what I do know.
Bills were hand signed and hand numbered. My blocks have that already added, so I doubt it was for official use. I do know that there was a thriving counterfeit market on both sides of the war. This plate is VERY detailed. Each one weighs a pound and a half.
The wood back looks old and is stained with ink. Many reproductions say FACSIMILE, or COPY. I added a photo that has been reversed to read easier.
