Written by an eyewitness and suffer this book constitutes a detailed report of this Civil War action including its associated burning, sacking, lootingand instances of compassion. The book includes a listing of all of the individuals who lost property with physical descriptions of the buildings and their values.
It also includes a map of the portions of Chambersburg that was burned in the raid. THIS BOOK IS IN NEAR FINE CONDITION This first edition book is in excellent overall condition.
Bound in dark brown, textured cloth covers with lined highlights and bright, impressed, gold lettering on the cover, the book is clean and has solid binding throughout. The exterior has no bumping. There are a couple small chips to the spine cloth.
The interior is generally clean and the book is free from any writing, smudging, stamps or pasteboards. There is some very light foxing on a few pages. The binding has no looseness or lean and both hinges are fine. In addition to the text of the book, it contains a listing of buildings that were burnt during the raid and the amount of damage. The book also has a sketch map.
