This Wonderful Ambrotype Portrait Photo Measures Approx. 3 1/4" Tall By 2 3/4" Wide (1/6 Plate).The Image Is On Glass With A Black Backing Applied To The Glass. It Is Housed In What Appears To Be Its Original, Pressed Fabric And Wood Case With Stamped Brass Matt And Preserver Frame.
The Image Depicts The Soldier Wearing A Light Colored Jacket With A Single Row Of Brass Buttons And What Appears To Be Piping At The Collar And Cuffs. His Hand Is On The Hilt Of His Sword And He Stares Intently Into The Lens Of The Camera. Neither The Soldier Nor The Photographer Are Identified In Any Way. This 1860's Ambrotype Image Is In Good Condition. There Are Some Scattered Thin Scratches And Tiny Surface Blemishes On The Front.Please See The Photos For A Good Indication Of The Content And Condition Of This Ambrotype Photograph Of A Proud Soldier. The Case Is Split At The Hinge And IS Held Together By Fabric And Has Significant Surface Wear. The Fabric On The Front Of The Case Is Very Worn And Frayed. The Metal Preserver Frame Around The Photo Is Missing On 2 Sides As Shown. There Is A Reflection Of My Camera In The Photo Of The Back Of The Image In Photo 5.
