1893 rare and scarce, true first edition of the memoir by John O. Casler of "Four Years In The Stonewall Brigade". Born in Gainesboro, Virginia, Mr. Casler felt it was his duty to enlist in the Confederate Army in June of 1861 to defend his homeland with Company A of the 33rd Virginia. The book has been professionally rebound with the original front cover affixed to the new cloth boards, 495 pages, all intact with no bends or creases, pages 191-192 and 225-226 have tears that have been repaired, the following pages have "chips" on the corners 205-208,241-248,257-266,271-274,283-286,293-294,321-322,327-330,351-352,367-368,373-376,379-380,401-402,423-428,451-454,471-472 and 475-476 (see scans for detailed example of "chips").
