Original Confederate Civil War Knife Bowie Etched Nashville Plow Works Tennessee
This original Civil War era knife was made by Nashville Plow Works and includes the original scabbard. This knife is part of a two knife set that belonged to 1st Lt. Arnold of the 21st Regiment Tennessee Calvary. Arnold was a commanding office in Company "D" which was men from Rutherford County, Tennessee. The oral history is that the knife was presented to Lt.
Arnold by the men of his company. The knife has been well preserved in the original scabbard. This is an absolutely beautiful piece with a great history.
The knife includes the original case. It is shown in the first picture above. The knife measures approximately 14 long in the scabbard. The blade is 8.25" x 1.5" and has the maker's mark of Nashville Plow Works. The blade has a beautiful etched design of "CS" which represented the Confederacy.
The grip is made of horn with sterling silver hardware. The guard is nickel silver. The knife is tight with no movement. The history of Nashville Plow Works is well documented on the internet.The is a great, rare piece.
