Extremely Rare CONFEDERATE General Order 1864 Robert E. Lee, Lunsford Lomax NICE
Extremely Rare CONFEDERATE General Order 1864 by Robert E. Lee, General Lunsford Lomax NICE. This item is a rare survivor Confederate General Order by General Robert E. Lee and General Lunsford Lomax and reads as follows. From Maj Genl Lee sanctioned by the General commanding Army N Va.

The companies of the command have been detailed to go to their homes to recruit until the 31st day of March 1864 and no duty will be required of Officers and Men of the command Until the above date unless the exigencies of this service require that they be asembled at an earlier date. //// of Regts will furnish any officer or private of his Regt who may wish to visit a section of the country different from that in which his company will stay, with a coppy of this order which will serve as a passport for the bearer. By order of Brig Genl. Writing on back by Surgeon. The document is signed by Captain Cuthbert Powell Grady.

I don't know if Colonel John "Shac" Schackleford penned his name on the left? General Lunsford Lomax and General Robert E. Lee did not sign it. A really nice Confederate war document. Stored in a rigid plastic holder.

The document is in decent shape and is not falling apart. I'm sure it was folded a lot so the many creases and wrinkles make it look in worse shape in the pics than it is. 100% authentic and a fine example of his signature. Guaranteed to pass PSA, JSA, or Beckett! A unique and perfect gift for a person that loves history.
