Civil War Confederate Document Assigning James Chesnut to 2nd South Carolina Vol
A nice 1864 Confederate document, partially printed and partially written, filled out on October 22, 1864, from South Carolinas Camp of Instruction. The document states that 18-year-old James Chesnut of Horry County was ordered to report to Company C, 2nd South Carolina Volunteers. It was signed by an officer, William T. A stamp near the left margin shows that Chesnut was to be furnished transportation from Columbia, South Carolina to Richmond, Virginia.
The document is on typical thin Confederate paper measuring about 9 1/4 x 8. Moderate but even toning and light foxing. There are also a couple of small holes where folds cross.
