This fantastic, Confederate Flag Cover illustration measures approx. 6" by 3 3/8" and features an all over design of the very first Confederate Flag - the "Stars and Bars" with just 7 stars which was the official National Flag of the Confederate States of America for less than 3 months from March 4 to May 21, 1861. Text in the central white stripe reads A Secession Envelope. This Cover design was issued in the VERY earliest days of the Confederate States of America as a Confederate States Presidential Election piece. While we have owned a few examples of similar Confederate Civil War Covers, in 40+ years we have never before encountered an example with the A Secession Envelope text and our research indicates that this is among the very rarest of Confederate Civil War Patriotic Covers.
