INFANTRY CIVIL WAR SOLDIER'S LETTER CAMP NEAR NORFOLK, VIRGINIA. This marvelous Confederate Civil War letter was written by Private Willie G Land of 1st Co.H, 12th North Carolina Infantry. The 12th North Carolina Infantry was mustered into Confederate service on May 18, 1861. The unit participated in every engagement as part of the Army of Northern Virginia and was present at Appomattox Courthouse. Norfolk, Sept the 17th, 1861. I hope dis few lines will find you all well.
You wrote to me that you had got my clos and you got all of dem as far as I know and also I got dem stocking and the letter you sent by E.
